2nd Meeting of the First Round of Negotiations Between the Government and the LTTE
 
The negotiating team representing the Government at the 2nd meeting of the first round of peace talks in Thailand will comprise Ministers Prof. G.L. Peiris, Milinda Moragoda, Rauf Hakeem, and Ambassador Bernard Goonetilleke. Maj. Gen. Shantha Kottegoda and Dr. John Gooneratne will attend as Advisors.

The LTTE negotiating team will comprise Dr. Anton Balasingham, Mr. S.P. Thamilselvan and Mr. V. Muralidaran (Karuna). Dr. T. Maheshvaran and Mr. Rudra Kumaran will attend the talks as Advisors to the LTTE delegation.

Establishment of a Joint Task Force will be one of the major issues on the agenda for discussion. Issues relating to antipersonnel land mines and resettlement of internally displaced persons will be taken up for discussion under the Joint Task Force. Among the other matters expected to be taken up during the 2nd meeting of the first round of talks are detainees under the PTA, establishment of a Joint Committee on Security Matters and human rights issues.
