In order to provide aid to victims of the tidal waves of December 26, the U.S. Embassy today announced that as an immediate measure the U.S. government will provide USD 100,000 (approx Rs. 10,000,000) for disaster relief.

The people of the U.S. express their sympathy to the people of Sri Lanka who were affected by yesterday's natural disaster.
