NORWAY CONVEYS RESPONSE FROM PRIME MINISTER TO LTTE

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has on 27 May responded to the letter from Norwegian Foreign Minister Jan Petersen of 23 May. At the request of Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, Norway has today communicated his response to the chief negotiator of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Mr. Anton Balasingham. Representatives from the Norwegian Embassy delivered this response through the LTTE in Kilinochchi this
afternoon.

Mr. Erik Solheim who visited Colombo from 25-28 May 2003 returned to Norway this evening. During the visit, Mr. Solheim and Norwegian Ambassador Hans Brattskar have met several times with Prime Minister Wickremesinghe and members of his Government. They also have met with representatives of the donor community.
