MAHINDA RAJAPAKSE BECOMES SRI LANKA’S NEW PRIME MINISTER
 
Former opposition leader and veteran politician Honourable Mahinda Rajapakse was sworn in as Sri Lanka’s new Prime Minister today. The swearing in ceremony took place this morning.

58-year old Mahinda Rajapakse is the 13th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. He is a senior member of President Chandrika Kumaratunga’s United People’s Freedom Alliance that emerged victorious at the general election held on April 02.

Honourable Mahinda Rajapakse had also served as Minister of Fisheries and Minister of Labour previously.
