Ian Martin at fifth session of peace talks

Mr Ian Martin, former head of Amnesty International, will be at the fifth session of peace talks to be held in Berlin on February 7 and 8, 2003. According to Professor G L Peiris, Mr Martin will be in Berlin to help both the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE address human rights issues.
 
Mr Martin has a distinguished career spanning three decades. He has worked with various national and international non-governmental organizations in the fields of human rights, community relations and immigrant welfare. He has also held important responsibilities in United Nations operations in conflict areas, including that of Special Representative of the Secretary General for the East Timor Popular Consultation.
