| Please be informed
that the first meeting of the Sub-Committee on Gender Issues
will be held on March 5th and 6th, 2003 in Kilinochchi.
The committee has been established
to ensure the effective inclusion of gender issues in the
peace process. The terms of reference for the committee
will be formulated by the members at their first meeting.
At the request of the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) and
the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Norway has
appointed Dr. Astrid N. Heiberg as an advisor.
Members representing the
GOSL: Dr. Kumari Jayawardena, Dr. Deepika Udagama, Ms. Kumudini
Samuel, Ms. Faizoon Zakariya, and Dr. Fazeela Riyas.
Members representing the
LTTE: Ms. Sivahimi Subramaniyam, Ms. Renuga Sanmugaraja,
Ms. Mathimalar Balasingam, Ms. Sridevy Sinnathampi, and
Ms. Vasanthapireminy Samasundaram.
The meeting will start
at 10.30am.
