Ian Martin, Human Rights Advisor visits Sri Lanka

Mr. Ian Martin, Human Rights Advisor to the Peace Process will visit Sri Lanka from 13 - 22 May. He is a former Secretary General of Amnesty International and currently a Vice-President of the International Centre for Transnational Justice.

Mr. Martin was invited by the parties at the fourth session of talks to formulate a roadmap of human rights issues to be addressed in the negotiation process. Mr. Martin participated in negotiations at the fifth session in Berlin, Germany and the sixth session in Hakone, Japan.


Mr. Martin will meet with senior government officials, members of the opposition, civil society representatives and the diplomatic community in Colombo. He is scheduled to travel to Kilinochchi to meet with the LTTE on 17 May.
