Issues on De-escalation and Normalisation Discussed Today

On Saturday November 2, the third day of peace talks, the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) focused in detail on establishing structures to address immediate humanitarian and rehabilitation needs. The parties also addressed issues related to de-escalation and normalisation measures in the North and East, and support to political matters for the purpose of negotiating a solution to the ethnic conflict.

On Sunday November 4th, the parties are expected to finalise terms of reference of the committees and sub committees relating to the above areas.

A press conference will be held at Rose Garden Hotel, in Narkorn Pathom, Thailand
starting at 15:00 hrs, at the conclusion of the talks.
