The Government of Sri Lanka very strongly condemns the reprehensible killing of 15 Sri Lankan nationals who were attached to the French aid agency Action against Hunger (ACF) in Muttur, Trincomalee. On behalf of the Government, we offer our deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
Under a directive of H.E. the President, the Government has taken a firm decision to conduct an impartial and expeditious investigation into these reprehensible killings. Following a request made by the Government of Sri Lanka, the Government of Australia has agreed to send a forensic expert who will assist the special investigations team.
The Government wishes to reiterate that it greatly values the contribution made by aid agencies in providing humanitarian assistance to the community, and assures that these agencies will be facilitated at all times.”
