The Government of Sri Lanka issued a communiqué yesterday expressing its concern over the two incidents that took place in Batticaloa on the morning of Monday 5th July resulting in the death of one person and injuries to some others.

These incidents the communiqué said jeopardized the law and order situation in the Eastern Province, which the Government is firmly committed to upholding.

Police investigations are now on to identify the perpetrators of these crimes, the statement added.
