I hope we have leaders with a common interest of the people of the Nation. We see the western countries where people unite and give value to human life regardless of race,caste and creed. The country is flourished with all talented people in various field. Can we all look to plan towards a goal for next five hundred years. A simple example would be taking advantage of Prabaharan's skills of organising and discipline the forces, recognising their values. The hospitality skills of singhalese people.. I can list thousands of talents and skills wasted by mere conflicts and a short term gains. The leaders have a lot to contribute bi-partism, the the politics outside.

Congrat. It is a great idea, and I wish that the messages could reach the majority of people who read only Sinhala or Tamil. They need to be 'educated' on love, tolerance, sharing and caring. Peace will surely decend . I remember words expressed by a Ven.Thero in Sri Lanka some time ago i.e "It is the majority that should safeguard and quarantee the rights of the minority in any country". If that was taken as the 'mantra' of any Govt, from 1948, we would have surpassed Singapore in everyway. At last the UNF Govt has realised this and has taken the right path. I welcome your bold move towards bringing peace to our motherland. Our people are yet to learn a lot of lesson. What is the goal of JVP? I am surprised of the JVP's opposition for debanning the LTTE. JVP too should have been banned for the same reason and now they are blocking the peace initiative. Do we have to take them seriously?

I am a Sri Lankan settled in Canada, & the only reoson we left our home land was owing to the ongoing war.

At lat we are in the right direction.

If peace is achived in Sri Lanka, I have no doubt that it will be a wake up call to the entire world.

On top of that all Sri Lankans including Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, Malays, Burgers & others will make our country one of the best countries in the world, within a very short peod.

I wish every effort to be success on the peace road. It is VERY VERY important that the Sinhalese community must be willing to share all the or most of the central powers to the Tamils to reign themselves regionally; in other words, Tamils should be allowed to have their own government within the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka. I wish to congratulate you on the bold steps taken so far, to bring peace to our motherland. At the moment, I am holidaying in Canada and the feedback I get from a cross section of the people here, makes me proud to be a Sri Lankan. However, it is sad to note that our country's propaganda campaign unit here (if there is one), is not making any positive impact, towards selling Sri Lanka, as a paradise island. It is only through word of mouth (which is a highly effective selling medium in Sri Lanka) that Sri Lankans over here get to know the present state of affairs in the country.

UNP Government is doing the right thing at the right time. Even though. Some extreme element in Tamils and Sinhalese see the true Commitment to the peace by the government in a different manner. I think they are doing the right thing. I am a Tamil but never a LTTL Supporter. But every Tamil or in that case not every Sinhalese are not looking things from others prospective. When people start doing that this world will be a peaceful place.

We hope Sri Lanka will be the next Singapore/Hong Kong and that all steps will be taken to develop the country. Economic prosperity will prevent insurgencies and bring the LTTE to the democratic pathway. Our citizens expect the PM to lead the country!

This is great. To solve the problem in Sri Lanka is to educate people. That is exactly what this will help to achieve I hope.

Peace process should have started in 1958 after the 1st communal riots in Ceylon. If previous Prime Ministers would have taken their peace initiatives , we wouldn't have seen what took place in Sri Lanka between 1983 and 2001. As a life member of old boys association of Royal College I have all the confidence that Royalist Hon Ranil Wickremasinghe will bring peace to the country where I was born and educated. Peace is necessary for the progress of the country which is one of the best in the world. General public had suffered during the last 18 years because of the war in Sri Lanka.

It's great essence to all of our ears that war is gone for good. Let's put the past behind us and prosper the future together in harmony.

As your website stated that only 89.6% expressed solidarity for peace but we still have 10.4% on the other hand that want war. We need to educated these people about the history of Sinhala and Tamil, what the war would do to the island's economy, and so forth. By doing so, they will understand the cause behind the peace process in SL.

Yesterday the 9th the Chariot festival of God Gnesh in Paris was held from 11am to 400pm for which number of roads were closed and about ten thousand people gathered.its not only the foreigners and tamils but also hundreds of sinhalese joined in procession also received at their shops entrance in traditional Hindu way.The sinhalese participation in en bloc is due to the on going peace process and the people are determined not to turn back.Long live the Govt.Premier and the participants.

It is very important that we can know all about the peace process through this website. But it is very important if you are able to include these details in Sinhala medium (Some of our partners are unable to understand in Enlish medium)

I certainly admire the PM and his collegues for the initiatives they have taken and admire the progress made so far in achieving peace.

But we have a major problem brewing internally.

I think equal emphasis must be made to win over the president on to the side of the PMs thinking. this could well be even more chalenging than the LTTE problem, but i think the PM is up to level of maturity to take on this challenge.

it needs mature thinking and understanding of the person and her needs for recognition in the effort and the sacrifice she has put in to the effort which is now paying dividends.

The privileges of Buddism should be reduced and equalized with the other religions, Hinduism, Muslims and Christians. Sri Lanka should no longer be considered as a buddist country but as a country with a multi religious society. It should be possible that a a srilankan tamil, christian, muslim or hindu could become PM or President of Sri Lanka.

I feel that the Prime Minister should be praised for his initiative in the current Peace Process.

We must definitely find a permanent peaceful solution so that Sinhalese,Tamils, Muslims,Malays and other nationalities can live peacefully in Sri lanka.My view of real peace is when Sinhalese could freely live,work and own properties in Tamil dominated areas just as Tamils are able to do those in Sinhalese areas.We all Sri lankans must learn to speak Sinhalese,Tamil and English and it should be made compulsory in the education system in every school in Sri Lanka so that all the students from grade one begin to learn the three languages at an early age.

Are we going to be one, a nation of Sri lankans or once again divided by religion,language, community,and regions, Not to mention the political decay and moral rearmament bady needed for the business community and ordinary citizen alike.

Peace alone will not solve our problems if these areas are not taken care of,If not, the ordinary peace loving citizen will be the losers.

I left Sri lanka just after the riots in 1983 and have been living away from my motherland since then.
